Another Basement & Creative Spaces

ALPHARETTA: The dynamic duo unloading Home Depot materials. We were referred to these new homeowners and let me tell you they were one of the nicest clients we ever worked for. Great people.

We moved some walls, built some walls, built a double closet with CREATIVE SPACES, installed flooring, painted and installed NEW STEPS....check it out below.

The wall to the left was demo'd, as was the wall in the far end (just studs in this pic).

Wall to the left is gone, new double closets on the left & recessed lights. "Misty" walls from Sherwin-Williams.

BAM! Look at all that space. The wall to the right was opened, the double closet to the left.

View from the basement entrance...

BAM! Opening is now about 10' and the back wall is gone too. We installed a power surge/outlet on the left wall for a wall mounted tv.

Homeowner did not want to see this panel....

...so we took care of it too.

                         Out with the old--->>>

<<---In with the new! We replaced the steps beacuse the ones under the carpet were old 2x12's with tons of nails. We installed red oak stair treads & then stained them and painted the rest of the trim.

We installed the same flooring onto the landing as well. Looks awesome.

Going down?

                  Only in style baby. -->>

Unfinished closet with impractical back space that follows the slope of the steps coming down to the basement.

We converted the closet to a traditional size (the back was way too deep) and took advantage of the excess back space elsewhere. Other wise, the back space becomes a "catch all" of all junk.

The closet  in the above pic is to the left of the landing opening.

               We fixed it .

This room will be for the treadmill and home office.

Bam!! The Big Kahuna....you can click on the pic to enlarge.

Custom made storage under the stair landing and to the left a better use of the space from the oversize closet.

Both over sized drawers are on wheels to roll out.

CHIEF ARCHITECT

We're always in pursuit of improvement and here we are in Dallas, Texas at a CHIEF ARCHITECT Intermediate Training. We've had Chief Architect for almost two years and use often. Our goal is to become experts and use it daily.

Lots of points earned got us 1st class seats.

An example of what Chief can do

In class trying to master things....

You would not believe how comprehensive this software is. When I worked at the National Park Service I used IBM's Maximo Asset Management software and find this program more comprehensive.

More soaking in....

Great features for our Kitchen & Bath Division

A little R&R in downtown Grapevine, TX. This litte aea was a real bonus for the trip. Four winery's within 2 small blocks. Awesome.

Chief Architect Experts. I wanted to bring one home for a week of personal training. All the instructors know sooo much.

This is a rendering created by us for the deck below.

Beautiful home upstairs but an unfinished basement. We sealed all the basement walls, all the framing, all the insulation, all the drywall, all the priming & painting. We then installed all the slat boards (the brown finish walls).

Scroll down - there are plenty of pics

We purchased all materials (excluding the slat boards) from Home Depot.

Cracked Under Pressure I

Here we are in Windward repairing a cracked basement wall (the next blog covers the exterior repairs).

By the looks of things it appeared the crack was at the bottom but once we chiseled the crack further to properly repair it the evidence indicated the crack actually started several feet above.

Cracked Under Pressure II

This is the outside phase of repairing the crack in the basement that resulted in water entering the basement.

Getting machines to do the work would've increased that cost significantly & not to mention destroying the shrubs. We instead used our might and dug down.

We kept digging and digging just to get this photo --- not really, but you can see we were about 7'-8' down under.

Here was the crack that caused all the water issues

We applied a special tar like coat to the surrounding area. Then a heavy mil plastic and then a thick plastic panel (I forgot to take the pic)....

...and then we sealed the edges with the sealant.

The End - :)

Love to be involved in bathroom redo's. On this particular situation we were not the original contractor; we got involved after he left.

We jumped in essentially into a gutted bathroom and finished installing the tub, insulation, backer board, wall tile, some floor tile, toilet, and 4" vanity.

We also finished the wood floor on the foyer bath, along with its vanity and toilet. Replaced some acoustic tiles in the basement and honestly a few other things like ceilings fans etc...

Please call us if you need any help

What exactly is that we do? We provide a little help for a little while for a lot of things. From home improvements & home repairs, to moving services, handyman help, exterior house painting and more.

Vacation Home Blues

Basement Sealing - Basement SealingBasement SealingGlad to be hired to help this homeowner with his vacation home blues.

Great home by the lake with some water seeping between the floor and walls. We sealed the joints and sealed the blocks with Drylock and hauled off some trash for him as well.
